Mobile Home Furnaces

Your mobile home heating system is significantly different that a conventional gas furnace. Mobile homes utilize specific mobile home approved heating equipment that are significantly different the traditional gas furnaces:

  • Airflow: Almost all mobile home furnaces are down-flow, drawing return air into a plenum and pushing heated air into ductwork located under the floor.
  • Dimensions: Mobile home furnaces are located in a niche, or space specifically dedicated for their use. Therefor, a replacement system must be exactly the right height, width, and depth.
  • Venting: Mobile furnace combustion air and flue gases are passed through a specific concentric vent system through the roof. A replacement system must match-up to this venting specification.
  • Sizing and Air Conditioning Requirements: Mobile homes are often smaller with lower heating loads, so a replacement gas furnace needs to be properly sized. An oversized system will not work properly and may be dangerous. In addition, the gas furnace provides the indoor air-flow for air conditioning, so the AC blower airflow must be considered in the furnace replacement process.
